Hello! My name is Joanie and I founded Tea Camilla in 2017 on a cozy side street in my hometown of Danvers, Massachusetts.

I’m proud to say that tea was not initially a life-long passion of mine. I didn’t really grow up drinking lots of tea. Because I found my love of tea independently, it’s a little more special to me. It was my junior year of college and I bought a box of pomegranate green tea bags from Boston’s Mission Hill Stop & Shop, and thought to myself “Oh wait, this is actually pretty good”. [Redacted] years later, here we are!

I like to think of Tea Camilla as a tea addiction that just got a little too out of hand. Why settle for a cabinet of maybe 10-15 teas when you can have a wall of 200? In the years that we’ve been in business, I’ve found that tea can be pretty individualistic, which is great because there are so many unique wonderful people in the world and also so many different types, flavors, and combinations of tea to choose from.

We believe that there is a tea for everyone and that it may just take a some time and a little experimentation to find the tea that lights up your soul. For me? After trying (almost) everything, I’ve settled on a simple Classic Black, Masala Chai, and every herbal blend I can get my hands on.

Welcome to the World of Tea. We’re so glad to have you!

With Love,
xoxo, Joanie

where did the name come from?

If you’re curious, our name comes from our beloved family dog, Camilla, aka ‘Milla. She was a feisty blonde bombshell who was born on the streets of Puerto Rico. We got her as a rescue at 3 months old and she lived to the ripe old age of 15. She loved overseeing anyone in the kitchen, perching regally on couches she wasn't supposed to sit on, and working the pool party for free snacks.
